Network Engineer
Lincoln, MA / Onsite

Blu Omega is seeking a Network Engineer to support a federal program focused on enterprise IT and network operations at Hanscom Air Force Base. This role operates within an onsite DoD enterprise network environment and is responsible for engineering, administration, troubleshooting, and modernization support across classified, unclassified, and enclave networks. The position requires experience supporting secure enterprise network infrastructure in a mission-driven environment.

Program Overview

This role supports an Air Force program providing enterprise IT, network, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operational support for Hanscom Air Force Base and its customer community.

Key Details

Location: Lincoln, MA / Onsite (full-time onsite at Hanscom AFB; limited remote work may occasionally be permitted)
Clearance: Active Secret clearance required

Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, implement, operate, and troubleshoot secure enterprise network infrastructure
  • Support Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Cisco ISE, network access control, routing, switching, and related network security technologies
  • Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues, outages, degraded performance, and Tier 3 incidents
  • Support network modernization, lifecycle planning, capacity improvements, reliability improvements, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Maintain secure and compliant network configurations, technical documentation, operational procedures, and network topology information
  • Support VoIP-related network issues, network monitoring, IP address management, and performance monitoring activities
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal technical teams to resolve complex network problems
  • Provide occasional night or weekend surge support when critical network or security issues occur
Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Security+ certification required before start
  • Approximately 10 years of senior-level network engineering experience
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, Cisco switches, and Cisco ISE
  • Strong experience with routing, switching, network design, implementation, operations, and troubleshooting
  • Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with OSPF, VRF, VRRP, QoS, VLANs, STP, 802.1X, access control lists, IPsec, and virtual chassis or stacking
  • Experience with DHCP, SolarWinds Orion NPM/NCM, Wireshark, AAA, SNMPv3, Syslog, and network monitoring tools
  • Experience supporting VoIP environments
  • Ability to work onsite full time at Hanscom AFB
  • Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and customer-service skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Air Force or broader DoD enterprise network experience
  • CCNA or CCNP certification
  • PowerShell scripting experience
  • TACLANE experience
  • Voice platform experience
  • UPS infrastructure knowledge
  • Windows Server 2019 or 2022 and IIS knowledge
  • Experience supporting classified, unclassified, and enclave network environments
  • Experience supporting large enterprise environments with thousands of users
Compensation

Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $150,000.00
Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
