Evening Stocking information

What is an evening stocking job?

Evening stocking jobs involve replenishing and organizing merchandise on store shelves during the later hours of the day, typically after regular business hours. Employees in these roles are responsible for unloading shipments, checking inventory, and ensuring that products are correctly placed and displayed for customers the next day. It often requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Many evening stocking positions are found in retail stores, supermarkets, and warehouses.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an evening stocking associate?

To thrive as an Evening Stocking Associate, you need physical stamina, attention to detail, and basic inventory management skills, often with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with handheld inventory scanners, pallet jacks, and warehouse management systems is typically required. Strong time management, teamwork, and reliability are valuable soft skills that help ensure efficient operations. These abilities are essential for maintaining accurate inventory, ensuring shelves are well-stocked, and supporting overall store functionality during off-hours.

What are some common challenges faced by evening stocking associates, and how can they be managed effectively?

Evening stocking associates often encounter challenges such as tight timelines for restocking shelves, working independently with minimal supervision, and handling heavy or bulky merchandise. To manage these effectively, it's important to develop strong organizational skills, communicate clearly with team members regarding priorities, and use proper lifting techniques to prevent injury. Staying adaptable and proactively addressing inventory discrepancies with supervisors can also help make the shift run smoothly and efficiently.

Job description

Description

Veterinary Assistant

Day & Evening Pet Hospital & Surgical Center | Holiday, FL

Come Grow With Our Team!

At Day & Evening Pet Hospital & Surgical Center, we know that great patient care takes a great team. We are a busy, full-service veterinary hospital with a collaborative team that believes in pitching in, supporting one another, and doing whatever it takes to give our patients and clients the best experience possible.

We’re looking for a Veterinary Assistant who is compassionate, dependable, eager to learn, and excited to grow their skills in a fast-paced veterinary environment.

If you’re someone who loves animals, enjoys learning, and doesn’t mind jumping in to help wherever you’re needed, you may be a great fit for our team!

What You'll Do

As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work alongside our veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide excellent care to our patients. Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting veterinarians and technicians with appointments, treatments, procedures, and patient care
  • Obtaining patient histories, weights, temperatures, and other basic information
  • Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats during examinations and procedures
  • Preparing exam rooms, treatment areas, and patients for appointments and procedures
  • Assisting with laboratory sample collection and processing
  • Supporting our surgery and dental teams as trained
  • Monitoring hospitalized and recovering patients
  • Assisting with patient treatments, medications, and nursing care under the direction of the medical team
  • Cleaning, stocking, and maintaining exam and treatment areas
  • Helping with patient discharges and client education as directed by the medical team
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized hospital
  • Supporting your teammates throughout the day and jumping in wherever help is needed

Growth & Learning

We believe Veterinary Assistants should have opportunities to learn and grow, not simply perform the same tasks every day.

At Day & Evening, you’ll have opportunities to build your skills and gain experience with:

  • Wellness and sick appointments
  • Surgery and anesthesia
  • Dental procedures
  • Laboratory diagnostics
  • Hospitalized patients
  • Patient monitoring and nursing care
  • Fear-free and low-stress patient handling
  • Client communication and education

For team members interested in advancing their careers, we’re happy to support continued development toward a Veterinary Technician role as skills, knowledge, and experience grow.

What Makes Someone Successful Here?

You don't have to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate and genuinely cares about animals
  • Dependable and takes pride in their work
  • A team player who is willing to pitch in
  • Comfortable working in a busy environment
  • Eager to learn and open to feedback
  • Able to communicate effectively with both coworkers and clients
  • Comfortable safely handling dogs and cats
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • Able to stay calm and professional when things get busy
  • Interested in building a career in veterinary medicine

Previous veterinary experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.

Our Team

We work hard, but we also believe work should be a place where you enjoy the people around you. Our hospital operates with a true team mentality—when one person needs help, we help. Everyone has a role in creating a positive experience for our patients, clients, and coworkers.

You may start your day assisting in appointments and end it helping with a surgical case, monitoring a hospitalized patient, or jumping in to help another department. No two days are exactly the same.

If you’re looking for a veterinary hospital where you can learn, contribute, be supported, and grow your career, we’d love to meet you.

Schedule

Our hospital is open Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM–8:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM–2:00 PM. Our team works a three 12-hour shift schedule with alternating Saturdays, providing a consistent schedule while maintaining coverage for our patients and clients.

Day & Evening Pet Hospital & Surgical Center is an equal opportunity employer.
