Job description

OVERVIEW:

Performs various safety and security duties under general the supervision of Director of Safety and Security.  Follows established procedures in order to ensure the safety and security of residents, patients, visitors, and employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Adheres to established procedures and practices regarding the facility’s identification badge system for visitors and employees

·         Responds to emergencies as needed (i.e., fire, disasters)

·         Performs regular package/briefcase checks on all employees

·         Performs access control duties for facility, understands and operates wander guard system.

·         Notifies Departments of any emergent situations and provides direction

·         Prepares and maintains various logs and reports

·         Recognizes, monitors, and reports conditions which may be safe, unsafe, or insecure

·         Monitors the closed-circuit television system and responds to security alarm conditions

·         Must always be in proper uniform and present a professional image

·         Reports unsafe/hazardous conditions observed to the Supervisor

·         Demonstrates sensitivity to and an ability to work with the age of the population to whom services are provided

·         Assist in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

·         High School Diploma or GED

·         Current valid Driver’s License

·         Good interpersonal/communication skills

·         Military, criminal justice or law enforcement experience preferred

·         Knowledge of security equipment such as cameras, monitors, radios, and computers

·         Ability to read instructions and apply those instructions to the tasks to be performed.

·         Ability to hear alarms, patient calls, and instructions from supervisors and staff.

·         Achieve and maintain certification in CPR procedures.
