Job description

Who We Are

We're HealthCorps - a national, non-profit organization committed to improving lives by addressing health challenges in communities through programming that provides innovative and engaging experiences for teens in education, leadership, and service learning.

Through our Teens Make Health Happen program, we empower teens by encouraging them to become change agents within their families, schools, and neighborhoods. Our work is grounded in the understanding that limited access to health education can lead to lifelong social, emotional, and physical challenges.

Where You Fit In

HealthCorps is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Program Monitoring & Evaluation Intern to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing data to support our mission of improving the health and well-being of young people. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students looking to gain hands-on experience in data management within a non-profit organization.

Requirements

What You'll Do

Database & Systems Maintenance

  • Perform data entry and updates in organizational databases and program tracking systems.
  • Support regular reviews of database records to maintain data integrity and completeness.
  • Support the team in identifying and resolving data discrepancies across systems.

Data Cleaning & Quality Assurance

  • Clean, organize, and validate datasets across program tracking tools and databases to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Supporting data quality checks to identify and resolve errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
  • Support the development and documentation of quality control processes for ongoing data collection.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Support basic data analysis to surface insights that support program evaluation.
  • Assist in generating reports and visualizations to communicate findings to internal stakeholders.

Documentation & SOPs

  • Document data management processes and procedures for team reference.
  • Support the creation of user-friendly guides and resources for data entry and retrieval.

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Work closely with program and M&E staff to understand data needs and support ongoing evaluation efforts.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas that strengthen data quality and program measurement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student studying public health, data science, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Ability to commit 6-8 hours per week for the full academic year (August 2026 - June 2027).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data cleaning and basic analysis.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Reliable organizational habits and ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and stay on top of assigned tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, SharePoint, and other productivity tools.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools or basic reporting.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to create clear, accessible documentation.
  • Interest in adolescent health, wellness, youth programming, or nonprofit work.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in data entry, proofreading, and version tracking.
  • Ability to communicate regularly and proactively with supervisors and teammates in a fully remote setting.
  • If local to area: ability to travel to program sites as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work remotely with reliable internet access.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Benefits

What You'll Gain

Professional Development

You will receive ongoing mentorship from HealthCorps' M&E and Program teams and gain hands-on exposure to data management, program evaluation, and nonprofit operations. You'll build practical skills in:

  • Database and systems maintenance across organizational tools
  • Generating reports and visualizations to support program decision-making
  • Documenting processes and building resources that support team workflows
  • Understanding how data and evaluation support health programming and student outcomes

College Credit:

*Depending on the specific requirements and guidelines of your university, this may be in the form of college or course credit, practicum hours, or internship credit.

Stipend:

You will receive a stipend intended to help alleviate potential costs that you may incur from participating in the program. You may use these funds for whatever you feel you need it for (technology needs, professional development materials, transportation for any local site visits, etc.) and it will be distributed in monthly installments.

Networking Opportunities:

You'll have the opportunity to connect with nonprofit leaders, school district administrators, community partners, healthcare professionals, and other mission-driven individuals working to improve youth health outcomes.
