Your Role

Join Gensler's San Jose office as a Designer, where creativity and purpose come together to shape inspiring environments. Our team works across a wide range of sectors-including workplace, commercial, retail, education, advanced tech, and healthcare-guided by an inside-out design philosophy that enhances both user experience and community impact.

In this role, you'll team up with a passionate group of designers to shape environments that are both purposeful and visually engaging. You'll apply your creative talents, technical skills, and strategic mindset to deliver impactful design solutions that resonate with users and communities alike. This role also offers great opportunities to expand your professional network through active involvement with industry peers and organizations.

What You Will Do

  • Independently lead design projects, with oversight from Design Director and Project Management.
  • Lead and energize teams, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with project management to implement design plans across various complex projects.
  • Supervise design and interior delivery, coordinating with Project Leads.
  • Handle a range of large, specialized projects independently
  • Innovate and solve design challenges creatively.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines.
  • Mentor junior designers, fostering their professional growth.
  • Stay abreast of new design trends and technologies.
  • Lead client interactions, understanding and meeting their design needs.
  • Handle all phases of interior design, from programming to construction documentation.
  • Develop test fits for space planning.
  • Select and present furniture, finishes, and lighting.
  • Produce detailed plans and specifications for construction.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and vendors.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field from an accredited school.
  • 8+ years of post-graduation interior design experience.
  • NCIDQ certification is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and 3D rendering software.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Strong knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, and specifications.
  • Excellent graphics and visualization skills to express your ideas.
  • Experience in workplace and/or hospitality design.
  • Commitment to sustainable design practices, with experience in projects holding certifications like LEED, WELL, or Net Zero Building.
