What is an evening RBT?

Evening Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) are professionals who provide behavior therapy services, typically in the afternoon or evening hours, to individuals with autism or other developmental disorders. Their work involves implementing treatment plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), collecting data on client progress, and helping clients develop important life skills. Evening RBTs often work in clients' homes, clinics, or schools, and their schedules are designed to accommodate families who need services outside of regular daytime hours.

The choice depends on personal schedule preferences and client availability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an evening Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and why are they important?

To thrive as an Evening RBT, you need a solid understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles, patience, and a high school diploma or equivalent along with RBT certification. Familiarity with data collection software, behavior tracking systems, and basic office technology is typically required. Strong communication, reliability, and adaptability in working with children and families during evening hours are valuable soft skills. These competencies ensure effective implementation of behavior plans, support client progress, and maintain a safe, supportive environment during non-traditional hours.

What are some common challenges faced by evening RBTs and how can they be managed?

Evening Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) often work with clients after typical school or work hours, which can present challenges such as client fatigue and reduced attention. To manage these challenges, Evening RBTs frequently adapt session activities to be more engaging and flexible, focusing on maintaining motivation and positive reinforcement. Additionally, coordinating with families' evening routines and communicating closely with supervising Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) helps ensure consistency and effectiveness in therapy. Building strong rapport with clients and being adaptable are key to overcoming the unique demands of evening shifts.

A 8-year-old boy with autism needs 1:1 ABA therapy

BehaviorCare Therapy

Looking to pick up flexible part-time hours to supplement your current job or school schedule? This could be the perfect fit. Weโ€™re hiring behavior technicians to work with children on the autism spectrum in their homes during afternoon and evening hours.

As an RBT/BT at BehaviorCare Therapy, youโ€™ll be working directly in the homes of families, providing 1-on-1 support to children with autism or developmental delays. Your job is to help them build daily living skills, communication, independence, and confidence โ€” all through play-based ABA therapy designed by a licensed BCBA.

Youโ€™ll work with the same children consistently, helping them make real progress in their everyday environments โ€” whether thatโ€™s helping a 3-year-old learn to request snacks or helping a 7-year-old stay focused through a morning routine.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your patience, energy, and creativity can make a lasting difference. Every child is unique, and youโ€™ll get the training and support to meet them where theyโ€™re at.

Why This Role Might Be a Great Fit for You: You're looking for extra income with part-time, afternoon/evening flexibility You want to work 1:1 with kids and make a meaningful impact You may already work in a school, clinic, or another therapy settingโ€”and want to pick up more hours

We Offer: Pay: $21โ€“$26/hr based on experience Flexible scheduling: tell us when youโ€™re available, and weโ€™ll match you with clients Health, dental, vision, and group life insurance for those working 20+ hours/week

What You'll Do: Work one-on-one with kids in their homes to help them learn and grow using play-based ABA techniques Follow simple step-by-step treatment plans made by your supervisor (BCBA) Track progress during each session using an easy data system on your phone or tablet (donโ€™t worry โ€” we train you how to do this) Team up with your BCBA and fellow techs to keep things consistent and effective โ€” you're never doing this alone Give feedback to families about how the session went and celebrate small wins together!

Requirements: Experience working with children (SPED Para, 1:1 Aide or Classroom Aide, after-school programs, caregiving, autism.) ABA experience a plus! Afternoon/evening availability (weekends a plus) Reliable transportation

About Us: BehaviorCare Therapy is a homegrown ABA agency thatโ€™s proud to serve families across Arizona, New Jersey and North Carolina. While we continue to grow, we stay true to our roots โ€” keeping things personal, supportive, and focused on clinical quality.

We believe in doing meaningful work that creates real impact for the kids and families we serve. Clinical outcomes matter โ€” and so does the experience of our staff. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™ve built a team culture that values collaboration, empathy, flexibility, and giving back to our local communities.

Whether youโ€™re brand new to the field or a seasoned pro, youโ€™ll feel like a valued part of a mission-driven team thatโ€™s passionate about making a difference โ€” one kid, one session at a time.
