Product Selection Specialist
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Product Selection Specialist role is responsible for selecting, tagging, and managing plant inventory to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality standards. This position also supports inventory accuracy, enhances sales visibility, and facilitates effective communication between operational teams.
The role focuses on optimizing inventory accuracy and communication to deliver fast, efficient, and high-value service to customers while ensuring timely inventory movement and seamless handoffs between order fulfillment departments.
JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Update and maintain crop specifications and product photographs for all items available for sale
  • Select, quality check, tag, and allocate products to customer orders based on customer expectations and required timelines
  • Apply First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory principles during product selection and allocation
  • Enter detailed and accurate allocation notes to communicate critical information to pulling and loading teams
  • Communicate product quality concerns to the Team Leader and/or Sales team in a timely manner
  • Identify and report inventory discrepancies to Accounting to initiate lot count verification
  • Perform regular cycle counts and lot counts as assigned to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Conduct tag audits to verify shipping accuracy and ensure tags remain valid and correctly assigned
  • Recommend crops for release, discount, or disposal based on quality standards and inventory conditions
  • Promote available inventory to the Sales team to support increased product movement and visibility
  • Accompany customers during on-farm product tagging activities when required.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with both external customers and internal teams, including the Outside Sales Team, Inside Sales Team, Outsourcing Team, Loading Team, Logistics Team, and Pricing Team, to ensure alignment, efficiency, and smooth operational execution.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy, productivity, and performance
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow established processes and procedures accurately and consistently
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a professional and positive manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across teams
  • Energetic and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive, growth-oriented mindset

OPTIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Working knowledge of plant identification, including plant type, species, specifications, and size classifications
  • Working knowledge of ERP and inventory management systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION
  • Able to sit, stand, bend and walk for long periods of time.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wet and muddy conditions, humidity, and direct sunlight.
  • Regular exposure to uneven terrain and moving mechanical equipment commonly used in agricultural or farm operations.

REQUIRED LICENSES / HOURS OF WORK AND EXPERIENCE
A valid driver's license and clean driving record is considered a plus.
This is a full-time position. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, totaling approximately 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on operational needs and job responsibilities.
