Job description

Job Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Utility Inspector in San Antonio, TX. This is a full-time contract-to-hire EXEMPT Field Based assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays.

Overview of YOUR role as a Utility Inspector As a Utility Inspector, you will provide field-based oversight and quality control for pipeline and gas distribution projects. You will conduct visual inspections of installations, ensure compliance with OSHA and federal safety standards, and verify that all work meets industry specifications and regulations. This role requires a hands-on professional with minimum 5 years of distribution experience who can work independently, communicate effectively with contractors and stakeholders, and maintain strict quality and safety standards.

As a Utility Inspector YOU will: Oversee and direct pipeline and gas distribution field activities Conduct visual inspections of pipeline and poly gas main installations for compliance with standards Review and interpret engineering drawings, codes, and construction schedules Ensure federal codes and safety standards are being met; issue stop-work orders if necessary Perform quality control checks on contractor work Oversee excavation, backfill, boring, pipe installation, purging, gas line activation, and pressure testing Maintain accurate records of work performed and contractor compliance Conduct daily safety inspections and participate in safety briefings Verify contractor Operator Qualifications for specific tasks Document and report daily construction activities to management and clients YOU are the ideal Utility Inspector candidate if you have: Minimum 5 years of experience in the utility or pipeline industry (required) Prior experience with distribution main and service replacement projects, particularly poly mains (required) Strong knowledge of gas distribution and pipeline regulations (49 C.F.R. Part 192) Experience reading and interpreting utility plans, blueprints, and technical drawings Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Valid driver's license with clean driving record (required) Knowledge of utility construction methods and industry standards It's a BONUS if you have: High School diploma or GED 10+ years of utility or pipeline industry experience Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with diverse field teams Passion for fieldwork and ensuring project safety and quality About Our CLIENT Our client is a leading utility services company specializing in pipeline and gas distribution projects.
