Posting Number S1454P Position Summary
The Choir Director is responsible for providing a quality music program and to accompany the Sunday Masses and weekly Christian Worship service in the De La Salle Chapel. This position is for three and a half (3.5) hours a week
Essential Duties
  • Lead weekly rehearsals and develop a Chapel Choir to sing weekly at Catholic Sunday Mass and on Holy Days, and for University Special Events.
  • Provide accompaniment and direct the choir during Catholic Sunday Mass, Holy Days of Obligation and for University Special Events.
  • Provide accompaniment and coordinate music for weekly Christian Worship.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Produce worship aids for the congregation using OneLicense account and La Salle University Printing Services.
  • Assist/support with recruitment and planning.
  • Be available for student consultation.
# of Direct Reports 0 Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Music education, choral conducting, or performance.
  • Experience with Catholic liturgics.
  • Performance level keyboard skills.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree.
  • 3-5+ years of leading music in a liturgical and/or educational setting.
  • Proficiency in voice, piano, organ and conducting.
  • Strong music reading skills including sight-reading, transposition, rearrangement, & SATB choral writing, and improvisation.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Availability on Sunday evenings for Mass.
  • Availability on one weekday evening for Christian Worship and Choir Rehearsal.
  • Please note that this day will need to adjust by the students' semester schedules.
