Job description

King Louis Express ("KLE") is currently searching for a Lead Driver for its Northern California/Oakland-Bay market (Cannabis Industry). This Lead Driver is responsible for driving as well as completing AM duties such as but not limited to ensuring everything is loaded in the morning, the other drivers have correct paperwork, correcting and printing any necessary paperwork, and PM duties to include but not limited to making sure all totes are stacked, all returns are marked and all re-deliveries are marked. This position will act as the primary link between the field drivers and the logistics office, ensuring that all routes are optimized and that deliveries remain on schedule. This role requires someone who can troubleshoot issues quickly in the Company's best interests.

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt - Hourly

Hourly Rate: $25.00 - $30.00

Must be able to work a flexible schedule (morning/evening/weekends/holidays) as needed in best support of operations. This is a full-time HUB based position (Oakland), no HYBRID or Work from Home opportunity is currently available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Route Monitoring & Optimization: Use GPS and fleet management tools to track driver progress in real-time, ensuring adherence to planned routes and schedules. Ensure drivers have their vans and paperwork ready to go

  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve immediate driver concerns, such as vehicle breakdowns, traffic delays, or delivery discrepancies

  • Logistics Coordination: Provide frequent status updates to the logistics team regarding route completion, delays, and capacity

  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce DOT regulations, hours of service (HOS) rules, and company safety protocols

  • Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of delivery issues, delay issues, vehicle maintenance needs as well as other support as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years in transportation or logistics, preferably in a lead capacity

  • Licensing: Valid driver's license. Must be able to meet Company insurability requirements and background check

  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal communication, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift and move heavy items up to 50 lbs as required for delivery tasks

  • Must be able to work and maintain a flexible schedule in the best interest of business operations
  • Must be reliable

Performance Metrics (KPIs):

  • On-Time Delivery Rate: Percentage of deliveries made within the scheduled window

  • Route Efficiency: Ability to reduce idle time and unnecessary mileage across the team
