Job Summary/Description:  

Are you a "Producer of Tomorrow" who is tired of the same old broadcast formulas? We’re looking for an Evening News Producer to lead our 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts at KWTX, the #1 news station in Central Texas. This isn’t a starter position; we need a creative powerhouse who functions as the evening manager, someone who isn't just filling time but is crafting experiences. If you’re ready to break the mold, adapt instantly to breaking news, and own the story across every screen, we want to talk to you.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Own the evening: Lead the editorial direction and execution of our 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, serving as the primary manager for the evening newsroom.
• Drive multi-platform storytelling: Mimic and adapt content presentation seamlessly across TV, streaming, and social media—ensuring our audience gets the best experience wherever they are.
• Master breaking news: Pivot quickly and calmly when news breaks, leading the team with urgency and smart decision-making to be first and best.
• Fuel the newscast: Bring "out of the box" ideas to the table every single day, constantly hunting for that "one more story" that makes our coverage stand out.
• Innovate the experience: Experiment with new presentation styles and digital integrations to create the "newscast of tomorrow," not a relic of the past.
• Collaborate and lead: Work closely with anchors, reporters, and the digital team to ensure a cohesive, high-energy product that maintains our #1 status.

• Proven experience: This is a veteran role—you’ve already mastered the basics and are ready to lead a top-tier evening team.
• A "Producer of Tomorrow" mindset: You’re bored with "the way it’s always been done" and are constantly looking for creative ways to engage a modern audience.
• Relentless news sense: You have a passion for news and a "hunter" mentality when it comes to finding and developing stories.
• Digital fluency: You understand that the newscast doesn't end at the TV screen; you know how to make content pop on every platform.
• Urgency and adaptability: You thrive under the pressure of a ticking clock and can change direction in a heartbeat when the news demands it.
• Creative spark: You bring great ideas to every editorial meeting and aren't afraid to try something that’s never been done before.
