Job Description
The Machine Operator II (Extrusion) is responsible for operating, setting up, troubleshooting, and maintaining extrusion manufacturing equipment in a regulated medical device production environment. This role monitors equipment performance, performs product inspections, makes process adjustments, and ensures products meet quality standards while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs). The Machine Operator II supports continuous improvement initiatives, assists with root cause investigations, and helps maintain a safe, clean, and efficient manufacturing environment.
Shift: Monday through Wednesday and Monday through Thursday alternating weeks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and supervise extrusion manufacturing equipment to meet production, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Perform machine setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, adjustments, and basic maintenance.
  • Inspect in-process and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Complete production documentation, statistical process control (SPC) charts, and work order requirements.
  • Identify and raise equipment, process, safety, and quality concerns.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective actions for process or product issues.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, SOP, and BD quality system requirements.
  • Support lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to achieve department goals.

Qualifications
  • Required: high school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing, machine operation, extrusion, plastics processing, or related production experience preferred.
  • Experience performing equipment setup, troubleshooting, and process adjustments in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Basic computer, math, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom manufacturing environment and perform physical job requirements, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs., and wearing required PPE.
