Job description

As a Budtender at Evergreen Market, you'll deliver an exceptional customer experience by building trust, understanding each customer's needs, and making thoughtful, accurate product recommendations. You'll collaborate closely with your team to keep the sales floor positive and the store running smoothly, and you'll grow your product knowledge to serve customers with confidence. We're looking for someone genuinely curious about cannabis, skilled at connecting with people, and committed to being a dependable teammate.
This role lives out our values of Community, Respect, Integrity, and Passion, and helps create a welcoming, safe environment for every customer and coworker.
This is a part-time position with primarily evening/closing shifts (approx. 3:30 PM-12:00 AM).
What You'll Do
Connect with customers
  • Greet every customer promptly with a friendly tone and welcoming presence.
  • Ask thoughtful discovery questions - about desired effects, experience level, format, tolerance, and budget - before making recommendations.
  • Provide accurate, easy-to-understand product information tailored to what each customer shares.
  • Meet customers where they are, adapting your approach for first-timers and regulars alike, and respond to questions or concerns with patience and reassurance.
  • Bring in a manager when a situation is outside your knowledge, authority, or comfort level.

Work as a team
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates and leadership about customer needs, coverage, breaks, inventory, and anything affecting the shift.
  • Support your coworkers, share what you know, and pitch in when business needs allow.
  • Bring concerns directly and constructively to the right person, ideally with a solution in mind.
  • Receive feedback professionally and adjust when needed.

Know your products and drive sales
  • Maintain working knowledge of core product categories, effects, potency basics, formats, and current promotions.
  • Connect recommendations to each customer's needs, and offer relevant alternatives or complementary products when appropriate.
  • Explain products in plain, accurate language - never making medical claims or guaranteeing effects.
  • Participate in required trainings and stay current on products, promotions, and store priorities.
  • Meet sales expectations using honest, customer-first sales techniques.

Keep things running
  • Operate the cash register accurately and handle all transactions with care.
  • Partner with coworkers to keep the store clean, organized, and well-maintained.
  • Attend and support store events as an active member of the store community.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

What You Bring
  • A customer-service mindset and genuine curiosity about cannabis and the people who use it.
  • Clear, respectful communication skills with both customers and coworkers.
  • High accuracy with cash handling and transactions.
  • Reliability and flexibility to work varied hours and days, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
  • A collaborative, solution-focused attitude.

Requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Physical requirements (with or without accommodation): ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 lbs, and to stand for extended periods during shifts of up to 8 hours.

Details
  • Schedule: Part-time; primarily evening shifts (approx. 3:30 PM-12:00 AM), including weekends and holidays
  • Pay: $24.50-$26.50 per hour, plus tips
  • Reports to: Store Manager
  • Classification: Non-Exempt (hourly)
  • Benefits: Paid Sick Time, generous employee discount, Employee Assistant Program (EAP)
