A Stable Career You Can Count On

At Southerland Transport, we understand drivers want more than miles — they want stability, respect, reliable equipment, and quality home time.
Southerland has been part of American manufacturing and transportation for over 100 years, providing steady freight and dependable work even when other industries slow down. Unlike positions heavily tied to oilfield cycles or unpredictable freight markets, our drivers benefit from consistent regional routes and long-term operational stability.
With a benefits package better than we have seen in the transportation industry, we believe drivers perform best when they can balance work, family, and financial security.

Home Weekends and Occasionally During the Week

Experience real work-life balance. Drivers are typically home 1–2 nights during the week plus weekends on average.
Most drivers are out approximately 3–4 nights per week, with home time commonly beginning Friday afternoon/evening or Saturday morning depending on routes.
We do not staff drivers for multi-week runs. Southerland believes strong home time creates safer, happier, and more successful drivers.
Rider Policy:

  • Spouse or long-term significant other permitted to ride along
  • No pets allowed
  • No children permitted
  • Rider policy agreement required
Drive Newer Equipment — No Slip Seating

Southerland Transport operates a fleet of newer-model sleeper tractors, primarily:

  • Kenworth tractors leased through MHC
  • Peterbilt tractors through Rush Truck Centers

Most trucks are 2024–2026 automatic models.

  • Drivers are assigned their own truck
  • New truck replacement cycle approximately every 6 years
  • APUs installed in trucks
  • No slip seating
  • Trucks parked securely in company yard
  • Well-maintained fleet
  • Regular preventative maintenance
  • Samsara ELD system with forward-facing cameras
  • Blue Beacon truck wash accounts provided
  • Quarterly cleanliness awards
  • Luggage carts provided to assist drivers moving mattresses safely to trailer rear
  • Trucks are spec with an inventor
  • Pre Pass for each tractor, no toll payments
  • Company CSA scores allow for fewer red light pull in at weigh stations

The truck assigned to you stays yours — no cleaning up after other drivers or inheriting equipment issues.
