Job description

The Role
The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking three Part-Time Scorekeepers/Gym Attendants to support our Thursday Evening Basketball League and Court Sports programs. This position is scheduled Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM and plays an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging experience for members.
As a Court Sports Gym Attendant, you will assist with court supervision, scorekeeping, youth sports instruction, camps, classes, open play programs, and general member support within our athletic facilities, including the Athletic Gyms, Batting Cage, and FitZone. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about sports, enjoys working with youth and adults, and is committed to providing outstanding member service.
Schedule: Thursdays, 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Position Type: Part-Time

What You'll Do
  • Scorekeep for Thursday evening basketball league games.
  • Assist with and support Court Sports programs, classes, camps, and open play activities.
  • Provide instruction for youth sports programs including basketball, soccer, baseball, fitness activities, and gym games.
  • Support Junior Sports programs, Holiday Day Camp, and Five-Star Afternoon Camp activities.
  • Supervise court sports areas and help maintain a safe environment for members and guests.
  • Set up and take down equipment including basketball hoops, volleyball nets, and batting cage equipment.
  • Provide members with sports equipment and answer questions regarding Court Sports programs and facilities.
  • Assist with registrations, reservations, and cancellations using club software systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of gym and court sports areas.
  • Report safety concerns, facility issues, and equipment repair or replacement needs.
  • Assist with administrative and clerical duties as assigned.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook for communication and record keeping.
  • Serve as a substitute for other Court Sports positions, including Junior Sports Instructor and FitZone Attendant, as needed.
  • Promote the MAC Code of Conduct and provide exceptional customer service to members.
  • Participate in department meetings, training programs, and club-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support club events and programs.
 
What You'll Bring

  • Experience in athletics, recreation, sports programs, camps, or related environments preferred.
  • Experience coaching, teaching, or working with youth preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and assist with coverage when needed.
  • Commitment to enforcing safety policies and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with members and coworkers.
  • Current CPR/AED, First Aid, and SafeSport certifications, or the ability to obtain them within three months of hire.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly, bend, twist, climb stairs, and remain active throughout the shift.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as needed.
