Company Description

Fountain Bio is an innovative commercial blood center in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Our mission is to end growing blood platelet supply shortages, due to an aging and declining platelet donor base, that impact the delivery of hospital transfusion care and the advancement of biomedical research. Our unique solution cultivates lasting relationships with young, healthy platelet donors by rewarding our loyal donors with health-focused rewards like monthly access to top-tier gyms, wellness studios and digital health memberships. This new model for platelet donation is supporting the fitness and wellness journeys of the next generation of platelet donors as a reward for their time commitment and life-saving impact.

Fountain Bio is currently focused on collecting, manufacturing and distributing single-donor, apheresis platelets for the purpose of transfusion, further manufacturing and research. Platelets have a 5-day shelf life, exacerbating the constant supply shortage for hospitals and medical research groups. We are starting by supporting the platelet needs of high-impact medical research groups while laying the foundation for the growing shortages facing clinical transfusion groups at hospitals. Platelet transfusions are an essential therapy for critically ill patients, including cancer patients, trauma surgery patients, and individuals undergoing organ transplantation. Our vision is to enable a future where no patient experiences delayed care due to platelet shortages.
