Job description

STS Technical Services is hiring Aircraft Structures Technicians in Fort Worth, Texas, to perform structural repairs, fabricate aircraft parts and complete installations in accordance with approved technical data.

This position is designed for technicians with hands-on aircraft structures experience who can read blueprints, follow Structural Repair Manual requirements and engineering dispositions, fabricate parts and complete structural repairs to established standards and tolerances.

Position Overview

The Aircraft Structures Technician performs structural repairs and fabrication work on aircraft and components. This role follows FAA-approved repair and modification procedures, OEM technical data, aircraft drawings and work package instructions.

Technicians will install and repair structural components, complete required documentation and work with Quality Assurance to support inspection and recertification requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform aircraft structural repairs and part fabrication
  • Complete repairs in accordance with aircraft Structural Repair Manuals and engineering dispositions
  • Follow approved repair and modification procedures
  • Use FAA-approved internal procedures, OEM technical data and work package instructions
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs and fixtures
  • Use measuring instruments, blueprint lines and index points to verify proper alignment
  • Inspect completed work and identify required rework before sign-off
  • Ensure repaired components meet specified standards and tolerances
  • Perform serviceability tests using equipment specified in applicable technical manuals
  • Complete required work package documentation and sign-offs
  • Submit completed and in-progress work to Quality Assurance for inspection and recertification of airworthiness
  • Install bolts, screws, rivets and other fasteners used to assemble and support components
  • Cut, trim and file parts in preparation for installation
  • Verify fitting tolerances
  • Drill aircraft structures and subassemblies
  • Install brackets, hinges, clips and related structural components
  • Inspect installed units, parts and equipment for fit, performance and compliance
  • Install structural assemblies according to blueprints and specifications
  • Use hand tools and power tools during repair and installation activities
  • Locate and mark reference points and installation holes using jigs, templates and measuring instruments
  • Provide information and documentation for engineering requests
  • Follow Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual procedures
  • Follow company Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least two years of experience preferred
  • Ability to use technical data and aircraft drawings to locate part numbers and complete repairs
  • Ability to fabricate aircraft parts
  • Ability to read work orders, blueprints and specifications
  • Ability to determine structural repair and fabrication procedures
  • Ability to determine the proper sequence of repair operations
  • Experience repairing aircraft bodies or structures according to specifications
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their use and maintenance
  • Proficiency using air-powered hand tools and related equipment
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control requirements
  • Ability to identify bolts, screws, rivets and other aircraft fasteners
  • Ability to work safely while following OSHA, EPA, state and federal requirements
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts when required
  • Valid driver’s license
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear a respirator in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 when required
  • Ability to participate in FAA-required random drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to work in hot and cold conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Ability to perform work overhead
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to climb
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts when required
