Job Description

Eurofins Environment Testing Southwest, Calscience in Tustin CA is searching for a VOA GC Chemist I to prepare and analyze environmental samples following EPA protocols in adherence with Eurofins Quality Assurance programs and SOP’s.

Analyst duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare water and soil samples for analysis by Purge and Trap Gas Chromatography
  • Evaluate chromatography for qualitative and quantitative criteria
  • Monitor and manage backlog workload to meet client program requirements
  • Upload and peer review data using the laboratory information management system (LIMS)
  • Perform basic instrument maintenance and repair, including column replacement and ion source cleaning
  • Prepare standards and reagents for sample analysis
  • Maintain instrument calibrations in accordance with laboratory QAQC requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping within the laboratory to maintain an organized and safe working environment
  • Conduct daily duties in an efficient and safe manner, remaining compliant with environmental health and safety programs
  • Performing other laboratory duties as assigned
Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications                                                                        

  • Operating a GC in an academic or production laboratory setting is a plus.
  • BS or BA in chemistry or related field; 3 years laboratory experience may substitute for a degree
  • Previous production oriented work experience a plus (awareness and ability to efficiently meet deadlines)
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to perform and evaluate basic mathematical calculations and formulas
  • Ability to work independently following written and verbal instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English

Additional Information

Compensation Range: $18 - $22 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Position is full-time.  Shift available is Tuesday Saturday, 1PM - 10PM with overtime as needed.
