    Position Summary:

    Working directly with the Estimating/Pre-Con Director, the Estimator II will gather, calculate, and compile data for use in conceptual/bid proposal estimates, prepare routine estimates under general supervision.ย  Maintain current, accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors through direct contact and written materials, sales brochures, price lists, etc.


    Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    Review proposal specifications and drawings; review project documents and prepare bond request forms on a timely basis;


    Participate in and/or attends pre-bid meetings, bid strategy meetings, and presentations as required to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate and develop a potential list of subcontractors. Solicit subcontractors to obtain estimates for divisions 2-16

    • Participate in pre-bid meetings
    • Analyze project scope of work
    • Utilize master subcontractor list, bid software, trade books, phone books and recommendations on prior jobs to develop a list of subcontractors
    • Direct and utilize support staff, if available, to assist Senior Estimator in these duties


    Gather, calculate and compile data (unit costs, subcontractor quotes) for use in conceptual and bid proposal estimates.

    • Compile subcontractor solicitation list with assistance of Senior Estimator or Estimating Director;
    • Work with Assistant Estimators to solicit subcontractor interest through telephone calls, faxes, etc.


    Prepare estimates under general supervision.

    • Review and critique quantity take-offs prepared by Assistant Estimators or prepare quantity take-offs and reviews with Senior or Estimating Director;
    • Price the above if assigned.


    Maintain current, accurate information on prices.

    • Obtain prices from suppliers and subcontractors through direct contact and written materials, sales brochures, price lists, etc.;
    • Report special pricing to Estimating Director for compilation into database, when appropriate.


    Prepare bid packages, conceptual estimates, analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects of medium size and/or complexity as assigned.

    • Compile estimates and subcontractor quotes to arrive at a total estimated cost;
    • Review above with Estimating Director and/or Senior Management.


    Interface with owner, architect, engineers and subcontractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.

    • Prepare RFIs as necessary to gain clarification for resolution of questions or ambiguities in contract documents;
    • Distribute; addenda, etc. to appropriate parties.


    Write exhibits identifying exclusions and qualifications custom tailored for each project.

    • Prepare comprehensive, accurate exhibits outlining KBE responsibilities and owner or tenant responsibilities.


    Become proficient using new technology, systems and software acquired by the Company

    • Participate in training

    Education, Experience, & Qualifications:

    • BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or Engineering and/or 5-10 years of construction estimating experience.
    • Proven skills in: Spatial concepts/ Math
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite (particularly Excel and Microsoft Word)
    • Experience with Estimating Software such as Timberline, On-screen take-off, IsqFt
