Estimating Manager
Location: Thornton, CO
Job Type: Full-Time | Exempt
Compensation: $110,000–$145,000 annually, depending on experience
An established and respected industrial construction contractor with more than 40 years of success is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead its preconstruction and estimating team in the Denver metro area.
This is a player-coach leadership role where you'll oversee estimating operations, mentor a growing team, improve processes, and help secure complex industrial and commercial construction projects. You'll have a direct impact on company growth while working alongside experienced operations and executive leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating department and estimating staff
- Evaluate new project opportunities and determine strategic fit
- Assign estimating workload and mentor team members
- Develop, review, and finalize detailed cost estimates for complex construction projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Collaborate with project management and clients to define project scope and pricing strategies
- Present estimates to internal leadership and external stakeholders
- Improve estimating systems, workflows, and best practices
- Monitor historical costs, market trends, and pricing data
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field preferred
- 4+ years of construction estimating experience with leadership responsibilities
- Must have experience with piping estimating and/or structural steel estimating experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, WinEst, or similar estimating and scheduling software
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
