Job description

ESP Associates, Inc. (ESP) is seeking a Special Inspector / Senior Engineering Technician to perform inspection and testing services related to, but not limited to: soils, foundations, retaining walls, reinforced concrete, structural masonry, fireproofing and post-tensioned concrete.


Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand project related drawings, specifications, and applicable building codes
  • Perform Special Inspections in the field for project document and code compliance
  • Perform routine and advanced field tests in accordance with ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, DOT or other standards
  • Document observations and inspections of construction including discrepancy notices for non-compliant items
  • Communicate effectively with ESP project staff and project construction team
  • Report inspections and test results through ESPโ€™s field data collection software

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or associate degree required
  • Experience in inspection and construction testing of soil, concrete, masonry and/or asphalt materials preferred
  • ACI Field Grade I Certification, preferred
  • ICC Certifications, preferred, any or all of the following:
    1. ICC Soils
    2. ICC Reinforced Concrete
    3. ICC Structural Masonry
    4. ICC Spray-Applied Fireproofing
    5. ICC Structural Steel and Bolting
  • NICET Certifications and/or Post Tension Institute (PTI) Level I or II certifications will be considered beneficial in the role
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions
  • Occasional overnight hours and/or travel for work
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the companyโ€™s driving (MVR) policy.
