Job description

We are looking for an Off-Shift Production Supervisor for our Plymouth, MI facility. In this role you will provide strong, safety-focused leadership to oversee daily production operations and ensure the efficient, high‑quality manufacture of Oerlikon Surface Solutions products. This role is responsible for coaching and developing production team members, fostering a safe, inclusive, and defect‑free work environment, and upholding Oerlikon’s core values, safety culture, and quality standards. The supervisor also ensures accurate production reporting, effective use of resources, and sustainable performance through continuous improvement and operational discipline.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all ESH and Quality procedures and policies – corporate and regulatory. Ensure that the Oerlikon Five Golden Rules of Safety are followed at all times.
  • Implement Oerlikon Mission and Core Values: Integrity, Team Spirit, Excellence, and Innovation.
  • Directs, supervises and monitors the activities of operators to accomplish daily production goals and targeted HSE, quality and delivery/cost metrics.
  • Writes, reviews and/or approves job hazard analysis, risk assessments, work instructions and procedures. Ensure procedures are in place, teammates are trained, and procedures are followed.

  • Identify, coordinate and/or conduct training around job hazards, work instructions and procedures
  • Investigate and resolve problems affecting ESH, quality, and productivity when required

  • Maintain accurate employee time and production records
  • Prepare and coordinate production schedules and people coverage including vacations, sickness, and training within company guidelines
  • Adjust as required to meet daily goals
  • Conduct job performance reviews; recommend job performance improvement plans; coach, mentor and nurture employee development and growth
  • Continually improve procedures and equipment for safety, quality, lean behaviors, and productivity. Serve as a resource for leads and team members driving improvement activities
  • Represents site management during off-shifts

Your Profile:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, preferably in a foundry or chemical environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ERP systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coach teams in a production environment.
  • Commitment to following and enforcing safety, quality, and environmental standards, including proper PPE use.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply SOPs, work instructions, and safety documents.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and basic math skills.
  • Ability to safely operate cranes and powered industrial vehicles (with training).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks (lifting, bending) and oversee 12-hour shift operations.
