Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Multi Service Technician to join our Environmental Services department in Putnam, CT!
Location: Putnam, CT
Weekly Hours: Part Time (24 hours)
Shift: Days (10:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.)
Weekends: Rotating, every other

Multi Service Technician Job Summary:
The Multi-Service Tech of Support Services transports or escorts patients within the hospital and/or operates the call center. When operating the Service Response Center employees are expected to handle customer service interactions through telephone, email, or face-to-face communications and may record and document various client interactions for management follow-up, operate as a switchboard to route incoming calls to the appropriate party, and provide administrative duties for guest services and similar facilities or locations. When transporting patients, employees are responsible for patient movement throughout the hospital according to their assigned task. Employees may work full shifts in either transporter role or Service Response Center role, or may perform both duties during one shift. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but other responsibilities may be identified within the position
Multi Service Technician Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of hospital facilities to transport or direct patient transport in an organized fashion.
  • Operates ASCOM phones, task phones and computers to enter or complete tasks.
  • Demonstrates competency in appropriate body mechanics, transport equipment use, proper use of PPE, patient confidentially and customer service.
  • Directs or escorts ambulatory and non-ambulatory patients from originating department to receiving department or discharge location using a variety of hospital equipment including hospital bed, stretcher and wheelchair. Performs required handoff communication at completion of tasks.
  • Confirms two patient identifiers (patient's name and date of birth); validating information against patient's wristband.
  • Transports equipment, X-ray requests, lab specimens and/or lab slips within the facility in a safe and timely manner.

Multi Service Technician Experience and Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Is physically capable to complete physically demanding tasks including frequent walking, heavy lifting and using patient transport equipment.
  • May require job-specific training including AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification (or equivalent) and NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training).
Multi Service Technician Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to operate patient transport equipment including wheelchairs, stretchers, hospital beds and oxygen tank transportation devices. Ability to operate technology including ASCOM phones, task phones, hospital phones and computer.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers, patients and visitors in highly professional manner while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Multi Service Technician Work Environment:
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, push and/or pull, and occasionally lift/move 35-40 pounds.
  • Ability to maneuver patient transport equipment (ex: wheelchairs, stretchers, hospital beds, bariatric equipment) while accommodating patients of varying weights, including those exceeding 350 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently lift items weighing 10-35 pounds from floor to table; lift items weighing 10-25 pounds from table to shoulder; lift items weighing 10-25 pounds above shoulder.
  • Ability to occasionally lift items weighing 10-50 pounds with assistance as needed.
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility, depending on business necessities.
