AIP is looking for a Detention Officer to work in Batavia, NY.  The Detention Officer is responsible to ensure the safety and security of detainees in custody, acting in accordance with the highest ethical standards at all times, and ensuring a spirit of fairness and integrity in the on-going execution of their duties.  To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!
Responsibilities
Performs duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of detainees as required by the contract
Supervise and control detainee behavior during the operation of the detention facility; or restrain by force if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints
Exercise appropriate judgment in handling of special needs situations or detainees
Communicate effectively and coherently with other staff or detainee with approved facility communication devices including the telephone system, intercom system, and portable radios; demonstrate effective communicative skills with detainee, public and staff
Perform searches of detainees, vehicles, mail items, objects capable of concealing contraband, buildings, indoor and outdoor areas which may involve feeling or detecting objects, walking, kneeling, bending or stooping for long periods of time
Escort detainees (hostile, aggressive, passive, etc.) using handcuffs and other approved restraints in accordance to policy and procedure
Maintain company equipment and uniforms in functional condition as prescribed for by company policy
Transport detainees securely using ICE approved restraints and vehicles to off-site location
Ensure that your communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery
Inspect, maintain, and care for authorized post related equipment
Attends to housing, feeding, and the physical well-being of detainees, on a variety of shifts 24 hours a day
Enforces rules and regulations of the detention facility
Provides care, custody and control of detainees at all times
Removes detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security measures
Guards detainees at deportation or exclusion hearings
Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and procedures
Follows company-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the Officer Handbook and other Company Safety Policies
Perform other duties as assigned
