Erp Support Engineer information

What is an ERP support engineer?

ERP Support Engineers are IT professionals who help organizations manage, troubleshoot, and optimize their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. They provide technical support for ERP software users, resolve system issues, assist with software updates, and ensure that the ERP system runs smoothly to support business operations. Their role often involves working closely with end-users, IT teams, and vendors to maintain and improve ERP solutions like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ERP support engineer?

To excel as an ERP Support Engineer, you need a solid understanding of enterprise resource planning systems, database management, and troubleshooting, often supported by a degree in information technology or computer science. Familiarity with ERP platforms like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics, along with certifications in these systems, is highly valuable. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills help you address user issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams. These competencies are critical to ensure system reliability, minimize downtime, and support efficient business operations.

What are some common challenges faced by ERP support engineers, and how can they effectively address them?

ERP Support Engineers often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting complex system issues, managing user expectations, and adapting to frequent software updates. Successfully addressing these challenges requires strong problem-solving skills, clear communication with both technical and non-technical users, and a proactive approach to staying current with ERP system changes. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, such as developers and business analysts, also helps ensure efficient resolution of issues and continuous improvement of system performance.

BlueCherry ERP Support Consultant

Capnexus

New York, NY • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced, senior-level BlueCherry ERP professional to own functional support, business process guidance, and best-practice adoption for our BlueCherry ERP platform. The right person brings deep working knowledge of BlueCherry's functionality and its strategic application to a vertically integrated wholesale business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert and primary point of contact for BlueCherry ERP functionality, including order management, purchasing, inventory, warehouse management, EDI, and PLM.
  • Partner with sales operations, supply chain, finance, and customer service to translate B2B / wholesale business needs into BlueCherry configurations, workflows, and reporting.
  • Own and continuously improve business processes and best practices within BlueCherry that reflect a wholesale model — order-to-cash, EDI trading-partner onboarding, allocation, chargebacks, and account-level terms.
  • Triage day-to-day support issues, resolve functional and process-level questions directly, and determine what requires escalation.
  • Manage the day-to-day relationship with CGS (BlueCherry's vendor): scope and escalate technical/engineering issues, track tickets, and coordinate upgrades, patches, and enhancement requests.
  • Lead user training, documentation, and change management for BlueCherry across the organization.
  • Evaluate new BlueCherry releases and features and recommend adoption based on business impact.
  • Support integration points between BlueCherry and adjacent systems (EDI, WMS, finance, B2B ordering portals).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase system adoption, data quality, and process efficiency across the business.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience supporting or administering BlueCherry ERP (or a comparable apparel/fashion-vertical ERP) in a functional/business capacity.
  • Direct experience in a B2B / wholesale apparel or footwear business — order management, EDI, allocation, chargebacks — rather than pure retail or DTC.
  • Strong understanding of apparel supply chain processes: order-to-cash, purchasing, inventory, warehouse management, and PLM.
  • Experience managing a technical vendor/implementation partner relationship (e.g., CGS) for engineering and technical support.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into system configuration and process design.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills; comfortable operating at a director / senior manager level.
  • Excellent communication, training, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience at CGS, or as a BlueCherry implementation/functional consultant.
  • Familiarity with EDI standards (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) common in wholesale apparel.
  • Exposure to adjacent fashion ERP/PLM tools (Centric, YuniquePLM, Infor Fashion, NGC) is a plus.
What Success Looks Like
  • BlueCherry runs reliably with strong user adoption and satisfaction across business teams.
  • Support issues are resolved quickly, with CGS engaged efficiently only where true technical/engineering work is needed.
  • Business best practices for wholesale operations are documented, adopted, and consistently followed.
