Job description

Location: Las Vegas, NV (Local Field Operations)

Position Type: Contract (Immediate Start through End of Year/potential extension)

The Mission: Precision Network Integration & Site Modernization

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Engineer to drive on-site execution, equipment integration, and quality assurance for a major regional Cabinet Consolidation Project in the Las Vegas market.

This role demands deep technical proficiency with modern carrier-grade infrastructure, advanced DC power plants, and cellular routing hardware. You will be responsible for leading physical installations, managing cabinet consolidations and router upgrades, verifying port configurations, and leading live system testing to guarantee zero disruption to network performance during tight maintenance windows. If you have active OEM cabinet certifications and a track record of zero-rejection closeout packages, this immediate assignment is built for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cabinet Installation & Integration: Lead the physical installation, provisioning, and commissioning of primary equipment cabinets (e.g., Ericsson 6160 series) across active site locations in strict compliance with engineering blueprints.
  • Network & Router Upgrades: Perform IXRe router upgrades, including physical rack mounting, precise port assignment mappings, and circuit integration.
  • DC Power Plant Management: Direct and execute complex DC power work, including DC power plant swaps, rectifier installations, battery string configurations, load distribution, and grounding. Perform real-time troubleshooting on live power systems.
  • Quality Assurance & Audits: Ensure all site deployments strictly adhere to carrier Installation Quality Standards (IQS). Perform pre- and post-installation audits, compile complete closeout documentation, and verify operational compliance.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Diagnose and resolve complex RF, power, or transport issues on-site during consolidation and cutover windows to minimize downtime.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate directly with remote Network Operations Center (NOC) integration teams, field project managers, and local crews to drive milestone completion within aggressive timeframes.

Required Qualifications & Technical Credentials

  • OEM Hardware Experience: Proven hands-on track record working on major carrier network modernization projects with deep familiarity with OEM hardware suites, protocols, and integration workflows.
  • Cabinet Certification: Mandatory active certification in Ericsson 6160 Cabinet installation and commissioning.
  • Router & Transport Expertise: Demonstrated experience executing IXRe router upgrades and port mappings. Previous Alternative Access Vendor (AAV) transport experience is strongly preferred.
  • DC Power Systems: Advanced technical understanding of telecommunications DC power infrastructure, including rectifiers, distribution panels, grounding, and battery backup systems.
  • Carrier Quality Standards: In-depth working knowledge of major carrier Installation Quality Standards (IQS), closeout package submission requirements, and site safety protocols.
  • Logistics & Availability: Ability to work during night maintenance windows, solve complex technical conflicts in the field, and maintain clear communication with remote engineers. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Why Join This Project Team?

  • Immediate High-Impact Project: Jump directly into an active, high-velocity network consolidation initiative with immediate billable hours.
  • Technical Ownership: Lead on-site execution for complex, full-stack site consolidations (Power, Transport, and Cabinet infrastructure).
  • Tier-1 Carrier Exposure: Demonstrate your technical leadership on high-profile infrastructure projects within the Las Vegas market.
