Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced General Manager, Equipment Rental to lead the daily performance of a growing equipment rental business serving construction, industrial, and trade customers. This role is responsible for managing branch performance, rental fleet utilization, customer service, staff development, and financial results.

The ideal candidate understands equipment rental, customer-facing service environments, and the importance of keeping assets available, maintained, and profitable. This person should be comfortable leading teams, solving operational issues, and building strong relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily branch performance across rental operations, customer service, equipment readiness, and staff management.
  • Monitor rental fleet utilization, availability, maintenance coordination, and return processes.
  • Manage revenue, margin, costs, and budget performance for the rental business.
  • Support customer relationships by resolving service issues and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop employees across rental, service, yard, and administrative functions.
  • Work with vendors and internal teams to ensure equipment availability, safety, and compliance.
  • Track key performance indicators related to utilization, downtime, customer satisfaction, and profitability.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of management experience in equipment rental, construction equipment, industrial equipment, or a similar field.

Strong understanding of rental operations, fleet utilization, equipment readiness, and customer service.

Experience managing teams across multiple functions.

Solid financial understanding, including revenue, margin, budgeting, and cost control.

Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Comfortable using business systems, rental software, CRM platforms, or ERP systems.

Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed.
