Job description

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer to support equipment engineering, procurement, logistics, and deployment activities for multiple wireless network projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience with equipment procurement forecasting, BOM management, vendor/supply chain coordination, and telecom/wireless equipment. This position will work closely with RF Engineers, Construction Engineers, Project Managers, vendors, and other engineering teams to ensure the right equipment is available at the right time and aligned with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and design support for equipment across multiple project types.
  • Support the equipment engineering team with equipment ordering and procurement logistics.
  • Create and process Material Requests based on project requirements.
  • Forecast future equipment needs based on project schedules and anticipated start dates.
  • Track equipment and components throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) aligned with site designs and RF requirements.
  • Monitor equipment expenditures and support project cost tracking.
  • Prepare and manage Purchase Orders (POs) and coordinate vendor payments.
  • Manage relationships and communication with OEMs, distributors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Optimize equipment procurement to support project schedules and minimize delays.
  • Track equipment shipments and coordinate equipment receipt and acceptance.
  • Identify equipment shortages, delivery issues, BOM discrepancies, and other procurement problems and drive them to resolution.
  • Coordinate with RF Engineering, Construction Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Project Management, and Supply Chain teams to align equipment requirements with build schedules.
  • Maintain accurate equipment tracking, procurement records, and project documentation.
  • Provide project updates and communicate equipment status, risks, and issues to stakeholders.

Must-Have Skills

Equipment Procurement Forecasting

  • Experience forecasting equipment and material requirements based on project timelines.
  • Ability to determine equipment needs and ensure materials are available when required.

Vendor & Supply Chain Management

  • Experience managing OEM, distributor, supplier, and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to track orders, resolve delivery issues, and coordinate equipment logistics.

BOM Management

  • Strong experience reviewing and maintaining Bills of Material (BOMs).
  • Ability to validate equipment quantities against site designs, engineering requirements, and RF requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Experience working with RF Engineers, Construction Engineers, Equipment Engineers, Project Managers, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Ability to align equipment availability with project and construction schedules.

Attention to Detail & Problem Solving

  • Strong attention to order accuracy, equipment tracking, documentation, and cost information.
  • Ability to quickly identify and resolve equipment, delivery, procurement, and inventory issues.

Preferred Experience

  • Wireless/telecommunications equipment engineering or procurement experience.
  • Experience supporting 4G LTE / 5G wireless network deployments.
  • Knowledge of wireless site equipment such as radios, antennas, BBUs/VDUs, cabinets, power systems, batteries, fiber, and transport equipment.
  • Experience with equipment procurement systems, inventory databases, ERP/procurement tools, or project tracking systems.
  • Experience monitoring equipment expenditures and project budgets.
  • Experience preparing Material Requests and Purchase Orders.
  • Experience working with telecom OEMs and equipment distributors.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred/required according to client requirements.
  • Engineering, Telecommunications, Supply Chain, Business, or related technical discipline is preferred.
