Position Highlights
The Health Equity Research Center is seeking a talented Postdoctoral Research Associate I or II to join their team. The successful candidate will conduct innovative research examining health outcomes, and disparities across under-resourced populations, with a focus on the role of artificial intelligence in advancing health equity.
The Health Equity Research Center is a center of the University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health dedicated to advancing research on the unequal burden of disease across population subgroups in the United States.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design and execute research projects investigating epidemiology, chronic disease prevention, and outcomes related to variation in the burden of disease in population subgroups.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of clinicians, statisticians, and public health researchers.
  • Mentor graduate students and research assistants.
  • Author manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications and present findings at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to grant writing and funding applications. Lead grant submissions, such as supplements, pilot awards, and career development awards.
  • Participate in regular training and professional development opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of statistical software (R, SAS, or STATA).
  • Skilled in scientific writing and communication.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Data analysis, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Promotion, or related field.
  • Research experience and background in epidemiological methods, statistical analysis.
  • Must have first authored peer-reviewed original publications.
  • Prior experience in conducting data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience with large datasets management and analysis.
