Job description

SALARY RANGE:                     $18.21 - $19.19 per hour

Summary / Objective 

Sports City Camp Epic offers exercise-packed days that combine sports activities with the exciting entertainment attractions at Poppy Bank Epicenter.    We are looking for those who are positive, energetic, and love working with children.  The Camp Counselor will be actively participating and supervising camps for children between the ages 4 – 12 in their daily activities, including sports, trampolines, bowling, arts and craft and much more.  This position is primarily seasonal for our summer camp.

Essential Functions

  • Work with kids in a safe and fun environment.
  • Greet families and campers upon arrival.
  • Participate in and supervise all camp activities in a hands-on manner.
  • Help where needed and lead activities when asked to by the Director.
  • Communicate with children, their parents and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with fellow Counselors and Director to ensure a smooth and enjoyable camp experience for all.

Work Environment

This job operates in an area-wide capacity. This role may use cleaning equipment, and employees in this role may be exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, and cleaning chemicals.

Physical Demands

The employee is required to stand 100% of their shift, climb or balance; and stoop or kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, using proper lifting procedures.

  • Ability to work alongside others as a team.
  • Must possess patience, creativity and enthusiasm
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and composure.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.  Ability to plan, organize, and lead activities for groups of children.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like running, crouching or carrying equipment), including ability to move around the facility and walk or stand 100% of the shift.
  • Willingness to follow all camp policies and safety protocols
  • Ability to be adaptable and work in a noisy, fast-paced environment with many distractions.
  • Must be a California Mandated Reporter (training available upon hire).
  • Possesses patience, creativity, and enthusiasm
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities

Preferred

  • Prior sports experience (specifically in soccer, baseball, basketball) is appreciated.
  • Previous experience working with children recommended (e.g., babysitting, volunteering, coaching)
  • CPR and First Aid certification
