Job description

The Epic Applications Analyst Professional is responsible for standard level work supporting information technology application(s) through planning, designing, implementing, maintaining and providing ongoing optimization and support. Duties include providing front line support to end users through analyzing and diagnosing problems and determining a solution.
This position will focus primarily on genetics, genomics, and molecular diagnostic workflows with in the laboratory.
Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, work hours may vary based on the needs of the department. Position does require rotating call, which may include weekends and holidays.
*This is a hybrid position.
Please note: This position has potential to be fully remote if applicant is located within CHCO hiring region.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and diagnoses system problems, identifies root cause, and then solves the problem or escalates issues to other appropriate IT staff when outside area of responsibility or expertise.
  • Plans, designs, implements, maintains and provides ongoing optimization and support for applications.
  • Gathers, validates, and translates technological requirements into design and development specification while providing product management.
  • Translates business need into system design
  • Collaborates with system users and other IT professionals to evaluate, plan, design, develop, test, implement and maintain systems.
  • Addresses technical issues that occur during installation and maintenance activities.
  • Completes or coordinates the preparation, coding, testing, and debugging of complex programs.
  • Analyzes, designs and builds workflows to meet the needs of users.
  • Configures and integrates electronic and mechanical hardware with software products to meet the functional criteria of client specifications.
  • Gathers and analyzes information to resolve incidents and troubleshoot problems. Documents the process and resolves the problem.
  • Documents design, application and technical specifications as appropriate. Works with others to create support and training documents.
  • Identifies and clarifies reporting needs and expectations with end users and works with report developers to clarify data and reporting needs.
  • Partners with vendor to troubleshoot and resolve system problems, to improve product performance and usability. Provides vendor with recommendations for system improvements.
  • Reviews documentation for upgrades and monthly system updates. Evaluates possible changes and impacts with other analysts and end users.
  • Supports end users and provides primarily Tier 2 support for supported systems.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities as required.

Scope and Level
  • Guidelines: Developmental, standard, or intermediate level. Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.
  • Complexity: Falls between the entry and full performance/senior level. Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices.
  • Decision Making: Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non routine issues to supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or that are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor.
  • Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.
  • Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Degrees
    • High School or GED
    • Bachelors degree in a related field strongly preferred
  • Experience
    • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience required
    • Clinical laboratory experience desired
    • Clinical molecular diagnostics laboratory experience strongly preferred
    • Epic Beaker CP experience in Genetics (VAR result type) build experience desired
  • Equivalency
    • An Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Epic Beaker CP certification in the primary application will be required within four (4) months of hire, dependent on job discipline and assigned functional role.
      • If not already Beaker CP certified, team members will be sent to Epic for mandatory training and will be given two (2) attempts to pass the associated certification exam as a condition of continued employment.
    • Beaker Clinical Pathology Certification and build experience preferred
    • Beaker Anatomic Pathology Certification and build experience preferred
    • Current Medical Technologist (ASCP), or equivalent, certification preferred

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $88,253.00 to $132,379.50
