Job Description

It would be a M-F position days - I would need input on a bill rate from what you would be seeing. The first part of the assignment would be Director level and then possibly some assistant work but the bill rate would remain the same.

Hours of operation and coverage for off hours 7a - 5:30p M-F, 8a-4:30p S, S & Holidays. Pipeline (outsourced Pharmacy) logs on at 5pm weekdays and 4pm weekends to cover the rest of the evening/night.

Is compounding or chemotherapy done on location? Yes

Are there any off-site locations? No

# of FTEs, Pharmacists, and tech Ratio? 24 (10 pharmacists/13 pharmacy techs/1 Pharmacy Buyer)

Is 340 B experience required? No

Quality metrics? Missed doses, med error reporting, diversion: We have software that tracks diversion, we have little to no diversion issues - 3 cases in the whole house in the last 12-13 years. I do not know the other quality metrics.

POSITION PURPOSE

Maintains and coordinates systems to ensure that pharmacy operations run efficiently on a day-to-day basis. Ensures appropriate pharmaceutical care is administered to patients of the medical center and its clinics. Supervises technical and assistant director pharmacy personnel involved in pharmacy operations. Analyzes systems and operations of the department via quality control measures to rectify problems. Coordinates all facets of operations within the department. Performs duties of a staff pharmacist as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Records transacted business and participates actively in the initiation, maintenance and control of the hospital and clinic formulary system.
  • Disseminates drug information to health care professionals and patients.
  • Supervises Pharmacy computer systems.
  • Ensures that the appropriate security processes and procedures are in place for medications throughout the medical center and clinics.
  • Functions as a voting member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee of the Medical Staff.
  • Consults with other department directors, hospital administration and other hospital and clinic personnel. Initiates appropriate action to correct problem areas and supervises interactions between pharmacy personnel, hospital and clinic personnel and the public.
  • Responsible for the development of objectives for and monitoring actual performance of pharmacy care and patient/customer satisfaction in the Pharmacy.
  • Ensures appropriate orientation of all staff to work area or procedures prior to allowing independent work.
  • Demonstrate ability to work closely with multi-disciplinary team(s) to facilitate the improvement of patient care on a continuum
  • Meets basic job requirements for all managerial positions at CGH Medical Center.
SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Current Illinois Pharmacist License.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience in a medical center pharmacy setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with in-depth knowledge of Windows and pharmacy software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills required.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patients served on assigned unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served. Able to assess and interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patient group.
