Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2 years of recent telemetry experience and current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details
  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting, encompassing MS/Tele, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15
  • 13-week assignment length
  • Required to work 8 weekend shifts within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
  • Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit
  • Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active RN license (MO or Compact) required, with both Kansas and Missouri or compact licensure in hand at time of consideration due to floating requirements
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Previous Charge RN experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skills required in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, IV therapy, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management, respiratory care (chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy management), wound care, and isolation precautions
  • No pending licenses accepted
  • Two professional references required, including one at the supervisor level or above and one from a Charge RN, both from within the past year
Additional Information
  • Deliver comprehensive cardiac and telemetry nursing care including dysrhythmia management, rapid response team utilization, and IV insulin protocol administration
  • Manage complex patient needs including pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery, hemodialysis, feeding tubes, and surgical drains
  • Provide care for neurological patients including CVA management and peripheral nerve block catheters
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Maximum RTO allowance is 7 days
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior tenure, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this position
