Job description

The IT department of Belgium’s FPS Home Affairs is looking for a highly experienced engineer to contribute to a high-level and sensitive data intelligence project. The ideal candidate combines deep technical mastery of both Linux, Windows and Docker system environments with advanced expertise in end‑to‑end Business Intelligence reporting and the Elastic (ELK) stack. This person must demonstrate exceptional precision, discretion, and analytical creativity in handling mission‑critical data pipelines and secure infrastructures. Expert‑level proficiency in both Linux (Debian/Ubuntu, RHEL‑based) and Windows Server ecosystems is required, including Docker VM set‑up and system‑level troubleshooting, performance optimization, and cross‑platform integration. The mission focuses on designing and maintaining robust data pipelines, monitoring frameworks and analytics capabilities with strong requirements in terms of security, traceability and compliance.

Mission Objectives
  • Strengthen data observability and monitoring capabilities
  • Design and optimize end‑to‑end ELK‑based architectures
  • Improve data governance, auditability and reporting reliability
  • Support advanced analytics and anomaly detection use cases
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and maintain ELK pipelines (Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana)
  • Develop advanced dashboards and reporting solutions aligned with business KPIs
  • Implement data transformation, enrichment and quality controls
  • Configure alerting, monitoring and anomaly detection mechanisms
  • Integrate ELK stack with BI tools (Power BI, Grafana, Tableau, etc.)
  • Ensure data security and access control (encryption, secrets management)
  • Optimize performance, scalability and reliability of data platforms
  • Produce technical documentation and audit‑compliant deliverables
Requirements
  • Deep expertise in ELK Stack: Logstash, Elasticsearch, Kibana
  • Strong experience in Business Intelligence and data reporting architectures
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux, Windows Server and Docker environments
  • Solid understanding of data security principles (encryption, access control, secrets management)
  • Scripting skills (Python, Ruby or Bash)
  • Experience with data modelling, analytics and pattern detection
  • Integration experience with external systems and APIs
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in: data engineering, observability / monitoring systems, Business Intelligence platforms
  • Proven experience in building scalable, secure and high‑availability data solutions
  • Experience in regulated or high‑sensitivity environments is a strong asset
