Job description

POSITION TITLE: General Ledger AccountantREPORTS TO: Director of RevenueCLASSIFICATION: Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: I maintain the general ledger's day-to-day function and procurement processes, and I coordinate the month-end closing process with members of the accounting staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following information defines essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The General Ledger Accountant may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons.
  1. Ensure data accuracy when posting to the general ledger daily while maintaining the integrity of the trial balance.
  2. Analyze financial information and assist the Director of Accounting and Senior Accountant with the analysis of general ledger accounts when preparing month-end financial statements.
  3. Support monthly and annual close processes.
  4. Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files and records, price lists, the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders, locate suppliers, monitor subcontractor performance, calculate the cost of orders, ensure invoices are charged to the appropriate accounts, and monitor inventory transfer forms for bookkeeping records.
  5. Maintain a chart of accounts, prepare journal entries to post to the general ledger, including expense accounts. Establish procurement strategies for the acquisition, receiving, and tracking of project materials that optimize quality, cost, and timely delivery criteria.
OTHER DUTIES:
  • Maintain Petty Cash and Cash Box.
  • Process Weekly Purchase Orders.
  • Assists Director of Accounting and Senior Accountant in developing reports and schedules for year-end audit.
  • Backup Support for Accounts Payable and Accounting Clerk positions.
  • All other duties assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or in a related field
Experience:
2- 3 years of experience in Accounting. Must have experience in maintaining the general ledger, cost analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Clinic hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • 11 paid holidays per year.
  • Full benefits package.
