Overview
Position Summary
The Environmental Services (Housekeeping) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Environmental Services Department to ensure a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and associates. This position supervises housekeeping staff, maintains quality standards, ensures compliance with infection prevention practices, and promotes exceptional customer service while supporting the mission and values of the ministry.
Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities
  • Alongside the Director, supervise, train, coach, and evaluate Environmental Services associates
  • Develop and manage daily work assignments and staffing schedules.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality and cleanliness standards are consistently met.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and corrective coaching as needed.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new housekeeping employees.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Oversee the cleaning and sanitation of resident apartments, common areas, offices, public restrooms, dining areas, and other community spaces.
  • Ensure resident move-in, transfer, and move-out cleaning is completed according to community standards.
  • Monitor daily housekeeping assignments to ensure timely completion.
  • Maintain cleaning schedules for carpets, floors, windows, upholstery, and other specialty cleaning tasks.
  • Respond promptly to resident requests and service concerns.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures are followed according to community policies and applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Promote infection prevention practices throughout the department.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Promote workplace safety by identifying hazards and ensuring staff use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Monitor inventory levels of housekeeping supplies, chemicals, linens, and equipment.
  • Submit purchase requests as needed while maintaining budget awareness.
  • Ensure housekeeping equipment is properly maintained and repaired.
  • Train associates on the safe operation of all cleaning equipment.
  • Promote a culture of hospitality and exceptional service.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and fellow associates.
  • Address resident concerns professionally and ensure timely resolution.
  • Support community events by ensuring public areas are clean, organized, and presentation-ready.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing senior living communities.
  • Maintain department documentation, schedules, and inspection records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.
