The Sustainability Fellowship is a prestigious summer program designed to provide post-baccalaureate students (recent graduates and graduate students) with immersive, hands-on sustainability experience. Fellows are placed with municipal, educational, corporate, and non-profit partners to work on transformative sustainability projects with real-world impact. The Fellowship allows participants to develop specialized expertise while gaining mentorship from industry leaders. Post-Baccalaureate Fellows will apply advanced knowledge and skills to their designated projects, which may involve research, data analysis, community engagement, sustainability reporting, or policy development. This position is only open to candidates who have already been selected through the UNH Sustainability Institute's internal recruitment process.

Duties/Responsibilities

Project Implementation (50%)

  • Develop recommendations or action plans based on project needs.

  • Engage with stakeholders and community members as necessary.

Collaboration & Mentorship (25%)

  • Work closely with assigned mentor and host organization to achieve project goals.

  • Present findings and progress updates throughout the Fellowship.

Professional Development & Networking (15%)

  • Participate in required professional development workshops, networking events, and peer learning sessions.

Final Presentation & Reporting (10%)

  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation at the Fellowship Showcase.

  • Complete a final report summarizing project outcomes and reflections.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have already been selected through the internal recruitment process conducted by the UNH Sustainability Institute.

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a sustainability-related field (environmental science, policy, engineering, public health, social sciences, business, etc.).

  • Graduate students or recent graduates (post-baccalaureates) from accredited U.S. institutions are eligible.

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with an ability to synthesize complex information.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Project management and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks, data visualization, and policy analysis.

  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing project needs.
