Overview

Join a well-established clinical setting in the region as a Lab Assistant. This role offers the opportunity to perform essential laboratory functions in a precise and accurate manner while supporting a team of laboratory professionals. Responsibilities

Sort and receive specimens in the laboratory department

Perform routine instrument maintenance on laboratory equipment

Carry out laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, and recording data including temperature charts

Prepare reagents and media for laboratory testing

Prepare specimens at workstations for various tests, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, checking for clots or fibrin, and slide preparation

Perform QA/QC duties and resolve pending lists

Identify and locate missing samples

Decontaminate work areas and dispose of biohazardous materials

Change gas cylinders and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests

Maintain files to ensure accurate departmental records

Follow all PPE and safety regulations and perform sanitation protocols

Use laboratory computer systems and operate PCs as required

Support specimen storage and retrieval, specimen decontamination, and other routine laboratory tasks

Required Skills

Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing laboratory functions
