Job description

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking an Environmental Regulatory Compliance Professional to join our Environmental, Health & Safety, Sustainability, and Air Quality (EHSSAQ) Practice in Livonia, MI. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career environmental professional to develop technical and consulting skills while collaborating with experienced Scientists, Engineers, Project Managers, and Principals.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and professional, with strong communication and technical skills. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Relevant internships, co-ops, or other environmental work experience are preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct site visits to gather data, monitor activities, and collect samples in support of environmental compliance programs.
  • Prepare environmental compliance plans and site-specific environmental and health & safety procedures, including SPCC Plans, Slug Control Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, and RCRA Contingency Plans.
  • Perform calculations and prepare supporting documentation for environmental reports and state and federal permit applications.
  • Develop and maintain Excel-based tools for air emissions calculations and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare emissions calculations and regulatory reports, including SARA Tier II, TRI, and Annual Air Emissions Reports.
  • Support environmental compliance programs at client facilities, including onsite assistance as needed. Infrequent overnight travel should be expected.
  • Research and track regulatory developments related to air quality and environmental compliance.
  • Participate in client development activities, including marketing, networking, and maintaining client relationships.
  • Represent GZA at industry events and trade associations and, as experience develops, interact with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related engineering or scientific discipline. A master's degree is a plus.
  • 0-5 years of relevant experience; relevant internships, co-ops, academic projects, or other environmental experience are preferred.
  • Interest in environmental regulatory compliance and air quality.
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial settings is a plus.
  • Ability to apply scientific and engineering concepts to practical environmental challenges.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong customer service orientation and professionalism when working with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with ArcGIS, data analysis, and complex Excel calculations and macros is a plus.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, Professional Engineer (PE) license, or similar credential is a plus.
