Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking an Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician to join our team in our Topeka, KS office. Ideal candidates will have a degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or equivalent, around 1-3 years' experience, or any equivalent education and experience. Programming and relational database experience is also a plus. We are looking for someone who is genuinely excited and enthusiastic about learning and pushing technical limits/ finding new solutions for our engineering (technology) related projects and clients. We'd love you to join our team of friendly, hard-working dedicated and collaborative professionals. We are dedicated to providing the atmosphere to allow individuals to grow their career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Digitize features from imagery and/or LiDAR datasets
  • Attribute features to conform with required table information
  • Produce figures, maps, or statistics as requested
Skills / Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Geography, Computer or Environmental Sciences or closely related field preferred. We are also open to an individual with a GIS certificate.
  • Good fit for this position will be a recent graduate
  • 0-1 year experience working with raster and vector feature layers
  • 0-1 year experience with GIS software for editing spatial features
  • Ability to multitask and solve real-world complex problems in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess good organizational skills
  • Must be consistent, detailed oriented and highly accurate in their work
  • Adept in basic document and spreadsheet applications
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if required
  • Must pass drug test, background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Local candidates preferred
  • Working knowledge in ESRI (ArcGIS 10.X, ArcGIS Pro), Word, Excel
