Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Project Engineer / Remediation Specialist to support the planning, coordination, and execution of environmental remediation and construction projects. This role will assist in managing project activities from initial planning through field execution and closeout while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, project schedules, budgets, and safety requirements.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting environmental remediation projects, strong technical writing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, field teams, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, directing, coordinating, and implementing environmental remediation and construction projects to ensure successful completion within budget and schedule.
  • Support project execution activities including scheduling, cost tracking, documentation, and coordination of field operations.
  • Prepare technical reports, sampling and analysis plans (SAPs), health and safety plans (HASPs), remedial action work plans (RAWPs), permit applications, traffic control plans, and erosion control plans.
  • Conduct soil, groundwater, and environmental sampling activities and support other field investigations as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations including CERCLA, RCRA, and other federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate project status, schedule updates, and budget considerations to Project Managers and Supervisors.
  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, technical staff, and field personnel to support successful project execution.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and preparation of project deliverables and documentation.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance.
  • Support proposal preparation, cost estimating, and project planning efforts, as needed.
  • Travel to project sites up to 50% of the time based on project demands.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in environmental remediation, environmental construction, or related environmental consulting projects.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university.
  • Current 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification and 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations including CERCLA and RCRA.
  • Experience supporting environmental field activities including soil and groundwater sampling.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and budget expectations.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • E.I.T., P.E., PG, CHMM, or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Experience supporting environmental remediation construction projects.
  • Experience preparing project proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
  • Familiarity with environmental compliance permitting and reporting requirements.
