Job description

CLASS SUMMARY
Responsible for skilled work involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and industrial systems associated with the Airport's environmental system. Primary responsibilities include work on pumps, motors, valves, motor controls, power distribution equipment, and associated industrial electrical systems used to collect, convey, store, and treat spent aircraft deicing fluid.
Performs preventative maintenance diagnostics, testing, and repairs using various electrical maintenance tolls and testing equipment. Work may include limited support of control systems, instrumentation, and Programmable Logic Controller( PLC) equipment.
This position supports the operation of a 6-million-gallon-per-day biological wastewater treatment plant and associated infrastructure including diversion valves for deice pad operations, oil/water separators, detention ponds, pump stations, and the conveyance systems used to collect stormwater to be treated in the treatment plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment associated with stormwater and wastewater treatment operations.
• Inspects, tests, diagnoses, and repairs motors, motor controls, pumps, power distribution equipment, soft starters, valves, and associated industrial electrical systems.
• Performs preventative maintenance, operational troubleshooting, inspection and repair of electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical equipment associated with treatment processes, conveyance systems, pump stations, and related infrastructure.
• Performs maintenance and troubleshooting on single stage centrifugal blowers, aeration equipment, diffusers, and associated treatment process equipment.
• Assists with maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, control systems, and limited PLC equipment associated with the environmental system.
• Utilizes electrical testing and diagnostic equipment to identify equipment and system failures to determine corrective actions.
• Maintains adequate records of preventative maintenance, repairs performed, materials used and labor hours through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Coordinates and oversees contractor activities work is completed safely, efficiently, and within established scope and airport safety requirements.
• Assists with inventory management, spare parts identification, equipment tracking and procurement support for maintenance activities.
• Participates in an on-call rotation; and responds to operational issues, alarms, equipment failures, and emergency situations involving airport environmental systems and infrastructure.
• Participates in safety meetings, training activities, operational improvement initiatives, and other departmental programs as assigned.
• Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment and complies with applicable electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and confined space entry procedures.
• Supports 24/7 operations through shift work, overtime, on-call response, and emergency callouts as required by operations conditions.
• Assists in emergencies situations, snow removal, operating heavy equipment, and other airport support functions as assigned.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education: HSD/GED
Minimum Years of Direct Experience: 5, Journeyman experience in relevant field. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS
Required
• Kentucky Journeyman Electrician License
• Commercial Driver's License - Class A or B (or the ability to acquire a Class A within 6 months of the hire date)
• Maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance
• OSHA 30 hour Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months
Airfield Driving - This position requires driving on the airfield area.
DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE OF
• Trouble shooting electrical/mechanicals systems;
• Electrical theory and calculations;
• Motor controls;
• Mechanical concepts, i.e. engine operation, maintaining industrial equipment;
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Cutting, soldering and welding;
• Mechanical concepts, i.e. structures, physics, hydraulic systems, high speed rotating equipment, pump and engine operations;
• Generators and Automatic Transfer Switches;
• Equipment and associate conduit/wiring installation;
• High voltage, motor, instrument and lighting controls;
• Programmable Logic Controls (PLC's);
• Preventative Maintenance practices;
• Fluid power and pneumatics;
• Generators, VFDs and UPS;
• OSHA standards, National Electric Code guidelines.
DEMONSTRATED SKILL IN
• Clearly and effectively communicating both orally and in writing;
• Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing and spreadsheets;
• Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.
