Environmental Monitoring Intern Jobs in Texas (NOW HIRING)

Position Summary

The Environmental Intern will support the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department in maintaining environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This position provides hands-on experience with environmental programs, regulatory compliance, waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental data management while working closely with EHS and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with environmental compliance activities related to federal, state, and local regulations.

Support implementation and maintenance of environmental programs, including stormwater management, wastewater compliance, air quality monitoring, and waste management.

Conduct routine environmental inspections and audits throughout the facility.

Assist in maintaining environmental permits, records, and regulatory documentation.

Support hazardous waste management activities, including waste characterization, labeling, storage, and disposal tracking.

Assist with chemical inventory management and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) administration.

Collect and organize environmental monitoring data, including air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, and sustainability metrics.

Support preparation of environmental reports and regulatory submissions.

Participate in environmental incident investigations and corrective action follow-up.

Assist with environmental training and awareness programs for employees.

Support sustainability projects focused on waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, and pollution prevention.

Help maintain environmental compliance databases, spreadsheets, and recordkeeping systems.

Participate in EHS inspections, safety walks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Perform other environmental and EHS-related duties as assigned.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in:

Environmental Engineering or

Environmental Science or

Occupational Health and Safety or

Chemical Engineering or

Sustainability Studies or

Related field

Skills

Basic understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements.

Familiarity with environmental concepts such as: Stormwater management, Air quality,

Wastewater treatment, Hazardous waste management and Pollution prevention

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, and management.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk throughout manufacturing, warehouse, and office areas.

Ability to conduct field inspections in indoor and outdoor environments.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, requiring frequent presence on the production floor to support EHS and environmental compliance activities.
• Hands-on fieldwork is required, including inspections, walkthroughs, environmental checks, waste area inspections, and direct interaction with operators, supervisors, and contractors.
• Exposure to industrial conditions may occur, including noise, moving equipment, chemicals, forklifts, outdoor areas, weather conditions, and varying temperatures.
• The role requires standing, walking, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, and occasional lifting, as well as access to outdoor areas for stormwater and environmental inspections.
• Participation in environmental and emergency response activities, including spill response, environmental drills, stormwater inspections, and incident investigations, is required.
• The role requires coordination across multiple departments, including Production, Quality, Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, and Supply Chain.
• Interaction with external auditors, consultants, regulators, waste vendors, and service providers may be required.
• Work must be performed in compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, RBA, and internal EHS management systems, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
