BAE Systems is hiring for an Environmental Manager to support at its Radford, Virginia site. In this role as the Environmental Manager, you will report directly to the Safety, Health, & Environmental Director. You will be charged to manage and own the site's environmental program.
Included duties:
  • Lead and manage a team of five Environmental Engineers involved in Air, Solid Waste, and Water Compliance
  • Direct integration between the site and the governing agencies
  • Serve as a liaison between the site and the community regarding environmental compliance
  • Stay ahead of regulatory requirements and ensure leadership is updated timely
  • Ensure all compliance reports are prepared and approved ahead of schedule
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to solve compliance issues
  • Serve as the environmental expert during MOD projects
  • Manage and prepare the environmental budget


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, or Chemistry and eight years related work experience, or the overall equivalent;
  • Management experience to successfully lead and nurture a team;
  • Highly effective communication skills - verbal, written, presentation - to be able to share information to all levels of the facility;
  • Computer skills to include ability to work with industry-specific software/databases/sites;
  • Versed in applicable Federal, State and Local Environmental regulations and standards;
  • Knowledgeable in ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems, including experience in auditing of requirements.


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Management;
  • Certified ISO 14001 Lead Auditor;
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Excel for data compilation/manipulation/analytics;
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement experience;
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing plant.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $120874 - $205486
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
