Job description

Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Description

As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will support, develop, communicate, train, manage, audit, and improve EHS performance. You will be pivotal in enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes, driving understanding and engagement for EHS performance improvement, influencing business unit leadership, and integrating EHS into daily operations. Your role will involve developing and executing EHS compliance programs, supporting the implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs, tools, and standards in line with global EHS policies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational diseases and industrial health hazards.
  • Promote EHS awareness through effective employee communications and participation.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for safety and environmental issues.
  • Support regulated waste management, including consolidation and inspections.
  • Conduct compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Support and conduct EHS audits, developing action plans to resolve findings, and implementing countermeasures promptly and effectively.
  • Perform risk assessments related to jobs performed for new processes and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for reporting to onsite management teams and corporate-based reporting systems.
  • Support management efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate program expectations and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures, including ergonomics.
  • Establish and manage the safety committee.
  • Drive continual improvement efforts to reduce site safety and environmental risk.
  • Support site stand-up meetings, safety committees, and floor inspections.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or relevant experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in EHS support, especially in warehousing.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Manufacturing plant experience.
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations.
  • Experience in risk assessment.

Work Environment

The role involves supporting R&D Labs located in Redmond, with a Monday to Friday shift from 9 am to 5 pm. Candidates must be willing to work any shift based on availability, including flexible shifts like days, nights, and/or weekends. The job requires the ability to lift up to 49 pounds and the capacity to stand/walk for up to 10 hours.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
