Ready to turn your classroom knowledge into real impact? Join our team in Waterbury, VT, and work alongside experienced engineers who are shaping the future of resilient water infrastructure across New England!

This internship offers candidates the opportunity to work on a wide range of water-resource-related projects, including stream and river restoration, bank erosion monitoring, turbidity reduction, flood mitigation, geomorphic assessment, and design of culverts to accommodate aquatic organism passage.

We are SLR Consulting (US), a 500+ coast-to-coast team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen.

As our new Water Resource Engineer Intern, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning, analysis, and design of water resources and stormwater projects, including hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, watershed studies, flood mitigation, green infrastructure, and stream restoration.

  • Assist with data collection, GIS mapping, field evaluations, and construction observation.

  • Work with engineering teams to prepare drawings, technical reports, and project documentation.

  • Contribute to innovative, sustainable solutions that protect communities and improve water quality.

  • The hourly range for this position is $20- $25. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:

  • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a related discipline.

  • Coursework or interest in hydrology/hydraulics, stormwater management, or environmental systems.

  • Experience with GIS, Civil3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar tools a plus.

  • Strong communication skills, eagerness to learn, and a collaborative mindset.

  • Valid driver's license and ability to support field work as needed.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of software.
