Introduction

Overview

Manage and ensure environmental compliance programming across all ADUSA Supply Chain and non-retail locations. This includes programming to meet environmental obligations under CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Water Act-Storm Water, EPCRA, TSCA, FIFRA and NESHAPS's Clean Air Act. The position will develop and implement programs, policies and procedures to ensure distribution centers and non-retail facilities are compliant with state and federal environmental laws and regulations. This position is responsible for the execution of environmental programming, monitoring changes in laws and regulations and leading a team of environmental professionals.

Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC , Chicago, IL, Quincy, MA, Carlisle, PA, Scarborough, ME, Hyattsville, MD and Mauldin, SC.

Responsibilities
  • Manage existing or implement new corporate environmental compliance programs to meet requirements of state and federal environmental regulations and laws.
  • Support corporate facilities, network wide distribution centers focusing on compliance and environmental regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor new and emerging regulations to determine applicability to ADUSA operations, and develop and implement new programming as needed.
  • Develop process for managing and storing critical environmental compliance data
  • Engage key corporate partners to identify programs areas for continuous improvement opportunities that increase efficiencies and reduce program cost.
  • Integrate essential aspects of environmental and compliance into the execution of company strategy so associates know their role and responsibilities and are held accountable for their behaviors.
  • Develop and provide training that clearly communicates program requirements and track compliance with training schedules, as needed.
  • Develop dashboards to provide an enterprise-wide view of regulatory and waste generation trends to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Develop and oversee environmental assessments of distribution centers and corporate buildings to ensure compliance with state and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Represent ADUSA at conferences and other stakeholder calls and meetings for the purpose of benchmarking with other retailers on processes, and regulatory and sustainability trends
  • Prepare and present Environmental topics to Operations and other business partners at Company meetings, as requested.
  • Act as the point of contact for environmental regulators to ensure prompt follow-up and close-out of any deficiencies identified during an environmental inspection.
  • Manage vendor-client relations related to environmental focus work streams, including but not limited to developing master service agreements, work agreements and contract management.
Requirements

Competencies :

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of environmental laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of safety laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated technical and regulatory project management experience and skills in managing multiple environmental and safety projects and programs
  • Capable of decision making using ethical and sound judgment and discretion
  • Ability to influence stakeholders to implement environmental programs
  • Strong initiative and organization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products.
  • Managing vendor-client relationships a plus

Experience: 5+ years of environmental and safety compliance experience, preferably with a national distribution or retail company. Experience with a wide range of environmental and safety issues including those related to waste management, water/wastewater/stormwater, air quality, hazardous substances, environmental sustainability, safety and OSHA.

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in EHS, engineering, or related field or any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $92,640 - $138,960

IL/MA/MD/NY Salary Range: $106,480- $159,720

Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
