Job description

We are hiring for a Financial Advisor for our Entwistle Branch

Employment Status: In-person; Full-time; 37.5 hours per week.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the primary objective of the Financial Advisor is to develop long-term, trust-based relationships with members by providing customized financial solutions that address their unique needs and aspirations. 

A key aspect of the role is educating members using wealth and debt management concepts, as well as proactively referring or cross-selling additional products and services. The Financial/Senior Financial Advisor will support individual, branch, and corporate initiatives, actively participating in campaigns that advance the growth and profitability of the credit union. 

As an ambassador of the credit union, the Financial/Senior Financial Advisor fosters an environment where members feel welcomed and supported, perceive staff as knowledgeable, and recognize the credit union as a responsible corporate citizen. Through excellence in service and financial guidance, this role plays a vital part in enhancing the financial well-being of members and advancing the credit union’s reputation and success.

What you'll be doing:

  • Educate and assist members in using all service delivery channels, including digital and self-serve options, to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Referring to internal partnership, small business, wealth etc
  • Provide advice around small business lending transactions and mutual funds advisor conversations.
  • Review reports on new accounts and term maturities to identify variances, taking necessary action or escalating issues to internal personnel.
  • Conduct routine loan audits by reviewing reports, identifying issues, and initiating corrective actions as per established procedures.
  • Apply risk management policies and audit control standards in daily work to maintain compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure all daily activities align with safety, legal, and privacy requirements in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Audit conscious, no cash write-off, new account openings, AML, credit & deposit compliance, adhere to First time right (credit) compliance.
  • Adhere to all mutual fund's requirements.
  • Identify personal professional development goals and complete related activities to enhance employee engagement and enablement.
  • Actively participate in regular goal-setting meetings and coaching sessions to support continuous growth and performance. 
  • Incorporate Members First Common Activities into daily routines, including proactive outreach strategies.
  • Conduct outbound calls, retention calls, proactive follow-ups, and pre-booked appointments to promote member retention, growth, and acquisition.
  • Demonstrate the member connection / pillars of advice (financial planning behaviors) with all types of transactions to influence solution ratio.
  • Participate in business development activities with internal (AG, Business, Wealth) and external (realtors etc) partners (team Servus).

What you bring:

To qualify, you will need the following:   

  • 3-4 years' experience in a customer service.
  • 2- 3- years' experience in retail lending/credit and investments with a demonstrated ability to build member relationships.
  • Complex lending experience.
  • Demonstrated achievement of sales targets.
  • Proficient in using technology, including mobile banking applications, with strong computer literacy and the ability to quickly learn new systems and tools.

The following education/certificates are valuable assets:

  • Post-secondary education in Finance (or related studies)
  • Investment Funds in Canada Course & License (IFIC)
  • Personal Financial Service Advice (PFSA)
  • Financial Planning I (FP1)
