Job description

Connsci is seeking a Senior AI Software Developer to support one of our federal programs. This individual will develop, deploy ,and administer Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems and software solutions to support the agency's mission. In this role you can expect to:

  • Conduct research and development on emerging AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.
  • Develop and deliver AI software solutions that meet the specific needs and requirements of the agency. These solutions may include:
    • Machine learning models for data analysis and predictive analytics
    • Natural language processing systems for automated document review and text analysis
    • Generative AI models and Retrieval Augmented Generation for content generation.
  • Work cross-functionally, to identify business problems, design technical solutions, demonstrate, and deliver business impact.
  • Design, Develop, and maintain scalable web services and interfaces/APIs.
  • Version control code and build CI/CD pipelines
  • Integrate the AI solution with existing systems and applications, ensuring seamless data exchange and functionality.
  • Assist with data ingestion, cleansing, labeling, and transformation to prepare data for model training.
  • Collaborate with the customer to develop AI models, including data analysis, feature engineering, and algorithm selection.
  • Deploy the AI solution on appropriate infrastructure and provide ongoing maintenance to ensure stability and performance.
  • Perform tests, troubleshoot software, and fix bugs.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on the functionality and operation of AI-powered systems. This may include: workshops and presentations; user manuals and guides; code documentation and specifications; and test plans and procedures
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives to identify opportunities for leveraging AI to improve operations and achieve mission objectives
  • Keep and maintain software solution development records, notes, sketches, drawings, etc., for review.
  • Develop standard operating procedures, knowledge base articles, quick reference guides, technical bulletins, and other documents supporting the IT Directorate.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • At least 7 years of experience in developing and implementing AI solutions.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Azure DevOps and AZURE development tools
  • At least 3 years of experience with Machine Learning libraries
  • At least 3 years of experience with one of more of the following programming languages: Python, R ,or Java
  • Current Secret, Top Secret, DOE Q, or Public Trust High Risk Tier 4 clearance
Our Preferred Candidate Will Also Have:
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify user requirements and design effective solutions.
  • Strong understanding of mathematics, statistics, and algorithms.
  • Experience in developing AI applications and AI-focused programming languages, such as Python or Java.
  • Experience with Azure Cognitive Services and Azure Open AI
  • Solid understanding of machine learning, neural networks, and natural language processing
  • Experience implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and Vector Databases
  • Knowledge on REST APIs to build computer vision, language analysis, knowledge mining, intelligent search, and generative AI solutions on Azure
Location

This role requires onsite presence during an initial ramp up period (usually 60 days) and then allows for primarily remote work. However, occasional onsite attendance may still be required for meetings, coordination activities, and other Government-directed work. The office location is in Washington, DC and is Metro and rail accessible.
