About the Role:

The Quality Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring that products meet the highest standards of quality and safety in the durable goods manufacturing industry. This position involves conducting inspections, tests, and evaluations of materials and products throughout the production process. The technician will collaborate closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues, thereby enhancing overall operational efficiency. By maintaining accurate records and documentation, the Quality Inspector will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and compliance with industry regulations. Ultimately, this role is vital in delivering high-quality products that meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in quality control or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection tools and techniques, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in quality control or quality assurance (e.g., CQI, CQT).
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and quality management systems (QMS).
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 standards and regulatory compliance requirements.

Computer Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for data entry, analysis, and reporting. Excel is often used for recording inspection data and creating reports.
  • Familiarity with document management systems, such as SharePoint or similar platforms, for organizing and accessing product specifications, work instructions, and quality documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of database software (e.g., Microsoft Access) for recording and managing inspection data. Some organizations use databases to store and retrieve quality-related information.
  • Experience with Quality Management Software platforms for managing inspection plans, documenting nonconformances, and tracking corrective actions. Examples include QT9, MasterControl, or ETQ Reliance.
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab) for analyzing inspection data and identifying trends or patterns.
  • Proficiency in using email and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Gmail) for coordinating with team members, quality engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Skills in using image capture tools and analysis software for visual inspections, especially in industries where visual documentation is crucial.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of quality control activities.
  • Collaborate with production staff to identify quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures and protocols.
  • Participate in training sessions to educate team members on quality standards and best practices.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing inspection data, lot release documentation, and material records
  • Assist in follow-up actions, such as supplier corrective actions (SCARs) or material returns.
